The first ducks to arrive, generally sometime during the month of October, are the bull pintail. Several weeks later the hens and the current year's hatch arrive. A number of species winter here: Teal, Bluebill Pintail, Blackducks, Redheads, Widgeon, Golden Eye and occasionally a few of the colorful Wood ducks. The lake is some 12 miles or more in length. Walking the shoreline with its many coves and inlets would probably be around a tiring 30 mileslots of duck habitat! Considerable number of Whitewing and Morning doves seem to have found just the right place to winter. They have it all here, water, feeding areas, climate, isolated and protected roosting and resting areas and...not a half dozen hunters behind every possible spot of concealment.
Ours is a small operation. We don't like to host more than 12 hunters at any one time. Wildlife is like any other harvestable crop. There is only so much. We solicit sportsmen. A sportsman by definition is an individual who respects daily bag limits and other rules and regulations pertaining to hunting. Duck Unlimited, a conservation group dedicated to ducks and their migratory habitat, is active in Mexico. We here at the lodge applaud and support their efforts to create and sustain an ongoing and thriving migratory duck population. Such hunting as Mexico currently offers will surely not be around forever. HUNTING PROCEDURE Detailed information for licensing and gun permits, etc. are sent
upon request. These requirements are easily met. Just allow yourself 30 days to insure
that everything is in readiness when you are. Hunters may bring two shotguns into Mexico. They can also bring along 100 rounds of ammunition for each gun.
